Welcome to Alchemy Sky Homestead, your portal to rediscovering wonder, wisdom, and the spirit of living close to the land! This immersive weekend program is designed to ignite your inner child of discovery, nurturing your curiosity about homesteading, permaculture, and mindful property management in the unique and awe-inspiring landscape of the Alvord Desert.
Day 1
Arrival and Welcome:
Settle into your cozy tent or bed accommodation, amidst the whispering sagebrush and starry desert skies. Enjoy a welcome bonfire dinner cooked in our outdoor kitchen, and meet your fellow adventurers under the Milky Way.
Introduction to Permaculture:
Embark on a playful exploration of the core principles and ethics of permaculture. Learn how to observe and interact with the desert ecosystem, fostering harmonious relationships with the land and its inhabitants. With scavenger hunts for natural resources, interactive soil experiments, and water conservation challenges, your inner child is sure to smile!
Movie Night Under the Stars:
Cozy up with blankets and popcorn for a thought-provoking film screening that celebrates the spirit of sustainable living and connection to nature.
Day 2
Breakfast Buffet:
Rise and shine to a hearty breakfast spread featuring fresh, homegrown ingredients.
Seed Sowing and Sprouting:
Discover the magic of bringing life to seeds, learning about seed saving practices and creating your own art, from nature.
Homesteading Skills Workshops:
Experience variety of hands-on workshops, each delving deeper into a different aspect of homesteading life, animals and more
Desert Food Forest Foraging:
Embark on a guided walk through the diverse, edible landscape of the Alvord Desert, learning to identify and harvest wild herbs, berries, and medicinal plants.
Natural Building Techniques:
Get your hands dirty and explore sustainable building practices using local materials and projects such as underground greenhouses, recycled pallets and native willow. Build a beehive out of willow or a fairy house from twigs and leaves!
Afternoon Open Mic and Talent Show
Share your hidden talents and inner artist around the campfire! Sing songs, tell stories, play music, or perform a skit inspired by your desert adventures.
Evening Dinner Luau Pig
Grass raised pork with farm to table vegetarian sides and wine. *Vegetarian options available
Stargazing & Night Hike:
Immerse yourselves in the breathtaking vastness of the desert night sky. Learn about constellations, the history of farming and the stars. Later you will embark on a mindful night hike, using your senses to connect with the nocturnal desert.
Day 3
Farewell Brunch & Closing Circle:
Savor a delicious brunch made with fresh ingredients from the homestead, and share your newfound knowledge, experiences, and connections with your fellow adventurers. Depart feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to incorporate the magic of Alchemy Sky Homestead into your own lives.

Free RV and tent camping available onsite under the stars. Very limited, bunk beds and tents available. Ask for details.
